2024 News! More records & gigs
Hello Friends, it’s been a while. There’s been quite a bit of action so far this year and more to come down the line. In February we gave my late great Del-Lords guitar brother Scott “Top Ten” Kempner a sendoff at the Bowery Electric on what would have been his 70th birthday. It was a really amazing bash and as luck would have it there will be video. We hope to have all of that for you by Scott’s next birthday.
After learning that my very good friend Mojo Nixon had died on the Outlaw Cruise on February 7th, the day after what everyone on the boat had said was his greatest performance ever friends of Mojo turned the gig he had organized at SXSW to be his very last into Mojo’s Mayhem and the good pals gave him a hell of a sendoff at the Continental Club in Austin TX on March 16th. We all miss him so much. Mojo was the Elmer Gantry of Rock and Roll.
It had been over 25 years since I produced Jono Manson’s “Little Big Man” album down in Springfield, MO and Jono brought me a batch of NYC centric songs about his life to record in Brooklyn last fall. The EP is called “Coney Island Serenade” at it was recorded at Cowboy Technical with Jeremy Chatzky & Phil Cimino on bass and drums, Charlie Giordano on keys and accordion. Mary Lee Kortes sings on one song and I played a lot of guitar, some keys and most of the harmonies. Jono really sang and played his heart out. This EP is available on Bandcamp and all the streaming sites.

I’ve been working closely with Sarah Borges and Keith Voegele writing songs for the next Sarah record that we hope to start in July. We’ll have Kenny Soule join us in the studio for this record. We’ll also be back on the Outlaw Country Cruise performing together in Feb of 2025.
Jeb & BA have a listen at The Studio
Just recently started a project with acclaimed writer Jon Loomis. Brought in Kenny Soule and Andy Hess to be our rhythm section at Cowboy Technical. We hope to record a few more songs this fall.
I’m also looking forward to recording with Mic Harrison & The High Score this fall down south.
Mojo’s Mayhem: the finale at the Continental Club
I have been working on lots of records both at the newly reinstalled Cowboy Technical Services and at my home rig Evie’s Terrace.
Recently released is a cool record from Matt Langone (Gotham Rockets, Hip Pipps, Mad Daddy’s and more). Matt put together a great band of East Village pals. Scott Kitchen: bass, Mark Botter: drums, Kenny Margolis: Keys and I played guitar and sang harmony. You can get the record on Bandcamp and it’s also available on all the streaming sites.
I have been busy in the studio with a few other records also. Steve Wynn has a new one coming out on August 30th called “Make It Right” on Fire Records. We had a great time dialing in the songs at Cowboy and Evie’s
With the help of Mario Viele I’ve also mixed the upcoming Kasey Anderson record titled “To The Places We’ve Lived and it will be out October 4th. I love the music that I’ve worked on with Kasey and you are gonna love this one too.

I’ve been on a tear finishing the last project that I ever got to do with my hero the late great Lou Whitney. 14 years ago he brought me to Springfield, MO to produce a band there called The Cropdusters. Some photos of the sessions popped up in my memories recently and drove me to start dialing in those tracks. Can’t wait to finish them because they are a terrific batch of performances and songs.

I do have some gigs coming up. Spanking Charlene and the Mark McKay Band are back in action. You can find them on the Gigs page and please take a minute to “follow” me on Bandsintown. They will let you know when I’m headed your way.
If you made it all the way to the end of this page, thank you!
